A live silent film in three acts by The Volkov Commanders
Presented by Sam Series and Word of Warning at Kraak Gallery.
Arriving from a future of their own creation, travelling from the moon on a mechanical woolly mammoth called the Volkov, the commanders aim to share their imaginations with you via movement, sound and costume. Previously this has included a future disco, a Royal Banquet with traditional moon food and last year’s transporting space opera Orbit: A Show in Seven Parts (pictured). This Thursday, inspired and influenced by silent films (most prominently Fritz Lang’s Metropolis) they bring you Panopolis. A live experiment in sound and story they collaborate with musician (and Manchester Wire writer) David McLean of Tombed Visions,Yes Blythe (Baptists and Bootleggers) and Negra Blanca of psychedelia pioneers, Gnod plus a DJ set from Pumping Iron. These one-off event of wonder, dancing and entertainment from the Volkovs are not to be missed – so get down early as the show starts at 7.30pm sharp.
