A native Mancunian, Darren is a director, producer, choreographer. Darren has 20 years of experience in the fashion, theatre, television and performing arts industries. In addition to his leadership in the infamous Ghetto Fabulous and pioneering efforts in Black Pride MCR, Darren is also the co-artistic director for the Manchester-based arts organisation Black Gold Arts.
Ghetto Fabulous is a dance and visual arts company that aims are to excite, entertain and have fun with the projects it embarks on, inspired by fashion, music, film, photography and the ever-changing world. Not afraid to explore the political and the personal, The Ghetto Collection is a unique voice in the UK arts landscape.
Our Associate Artist relationship with Darren started by producing and touring Rent Party at Contact in 2017.
In 2018, we developed and produced Family Catwalk Extravanganza a family vogue ball commissioned by Without Walls Blueprint programme and Z-arts. We produced six national tours, touring to outdoor festivals from 2019-2025 and supporting Darren to find new contexts for their work nationally and internationally..
In 2023, Darren created the House of Manchester at the Factory International.
