SWITCHFLICKER is an independent production company based in Manchester, England, that produces and presents contemporary work by local, national and international artists across the spectrum of the performing arts.

Under the direction of Jayne Compton, Switchflicker has produced work by genre-defying performance artists and musicians such as David Hoyle, Marisa Carnesky, Mark E. Smith, Darren Pritchard Dance, Cheryl Martin and Rachel Goodyear, in venues around the world.


Switchflicker’s mission is to connect ideas, artists and audiences through transformative, original and above all else, creative experience.

Switchflicker’s unique understanding and support of artists, knowledge of the creative world, and ability to engage professionally with artists’ imagination and experimental practices brings contemporary performance and art events to life in extraordinary ways.

So far, Switchflicker has proudly developed and been the lead producer of more than 30 original productions, 4 short films, 20 record releases, 2 underground spaces and, let’s not forget, the legendary underground performance art clubnight Club Brenda, in Manchester and Berlin.

Rachel Goodyear’s Blind Spots.
SAM Series; Demdike Stare, Laraaji, Sun Araw & Maria Minerva.
Co-productions with Cheryl Martin’s One Woman, Unlimited Festival 2021 and Wellcome Trust, touring internationally to São Paulo, Brazil & Southbank Centre.
Darren Pritchard’s Rent Party, co-production with Homotopia and Sheffield Theatres.

Showwomen

The highly-acclaimed Showwomen by Olivier award-winning Marisa Carnesky, which headlined Latitude Festival and has been developed into a mini-documentary by The Space (BBC).

Ten Commandments

David Hoyle’s Ten Commandments has toured the UK and Europe continuing to educate, enlighten and entertain in equal measure. More recently, the show at Soho Theatre has been developed into a radio show by NTS live.

as british as a watermelon

The internationally acclaimed as british as a watermelon by mandla has now been seen across four continents and toured to the Barbican, Sydney Opera House, Mayfest, Horizon Showcase and Edinburgh International Festival.

Family Vogue Ball

The much-loved Family Vogue Ball by Ghetto Fabulous, a celebration of self-expression, has toured to Battersea Arts Centre, The Whitworth and Wild Rumpus.
